After Customer Purchase - Good to Know

Charging – The devices have about 50% battery charge out of the box. The devices must be put into the charger to be fully charged before use.  It takes 2-3 hours to get to a full charge.  Devices have overcharge protection. Please refer to HearingAssist Videos for Each Product:

Cleaning – EARWAX is one of the biggest problems for hearing aids. Earwax entering the unit’s receiver (speaker) can distort the sound, or the customer may not hear any sounds.  The best time to clean the hearing aids is in the morning because any earwax in the unit has hardened overnight and flakes out much easier.  Each box comes with a small brush inside to clean the devices.  Gravity is our friend when it comes to cleaning, so the customer will want to hold the unit with the ear dome facing the ground while brushing the ear dome.

Troubleshooting Tip: If a customer has an issue with the device not working (i.e., can’t hear, its distorted, no sound at all, or it’s whistling (feedback), no volume or weak), it is usually just plugged up with earwax in the receiver (speaker).  An easy fix is to remove the ear dome from the tip of the receiver and replace it with a new ear dome. 2.    Multifunction Use Battery Life – (STREAM & CONNECT DEVICES) Customers may only get 1 to 2 hours of battery life if they use the audio streaming function and make phone calls while connected to the app.  The portable pocket-size charging case will quickly charge 3 times on the go. Also, we recommend completely disconnecting the devices from the app if not using the smartphone to control the devices to help lengthen battery life.

3.    Feedback – This is the whistling or buzzing the hearing aid can make.  The cause could be that the hearing aid may not be in the customer’s ear properly, they have the wrong ear dome on the receiver (speaker) (switch out to a larger or closed dome, no slots), the volume may be set too loud, or their ears could be impacted by earwax (need to clean their ears). 4.    Getting used to their voice – There is a learning curve for first-time hearing aid users hearing their voice through amplification.  It could sound like their voice is in a barrel.  The more the customer hears their voice through the hearing aids, the quicker they will get used to it.  We recommend reading out loud for 15-20 minutes a day.  Changing to smaller ear domes or a more open-fit dome (the ones with the slots) can also help.

5.    Volume changes when streaming music or phone calls – This is controlled by the phone.  It is easiest to turn the volume up or down by using the volume control on the side of the phone.

6.    Using the Phone (for the devices that aren’t streaming) – When possible, use the speaker function on the phone.  When using the speaker, the customer can hear the phone conversation better with two ears. For RIC hearing aid users, the microphone on the hearing aid is located on top of the ear, so the phone must be held higher up on the top of the ear so the sound from the phone can go into the microphones.
